"Safe and Supportive Schools
The York Region District School
Board believes that every student has the right to learn in a safe and
supportive environment. This belief has guided us through the implementation of
the Safe Schools Act, the provincial Code of Conduct and the development of the
Board’s Safe Schools Policy and Procedure. Supporting a learning environment
with clear behavioural expectations assists all school members. The
responsibility for supporting students in making good choices is shared by
school personnel, parents/guardians and individual students. Administrators,
when applying the Board’s policy and procedure give considerable attention to
the balance of consistency and discretion. Positive preventative and
intervention measures that support student achievement and student development
remain a priority for this portfolio.
We are committed to continuous
improvement in all of our schools through our school and system planning
processes. This commitment will embrace the area of effective schools, quality
workplaces and parental and community involvement."
